WebData Control is approximately 62.0MB in size

What infrastructure does WebData Control need?

No specific infrasturcture is needed. WebData Control is design to work within your existing environment.
The installation requires a agent to be deployed to each machine whilst the configuration is managed through traditional group policy mechanisms

What infrastructure does WebData Control need?

WebData Management, Browser Redirector and Favorites Synchronization can be installed and configured individually. This is achieved by selecting the necessary options within the installer.
Note: The Notification Service is automatically installed when Browser Redirector or Favorites Synchronization is installed.

WebData Management

What settings are part of the Default Configuration?

Enabling the Default Configuration will enable WebData Management using our recommended settings

The default settings include managing the following types of web data:

Cookie Data
History Data
DOM Data
Temporary Internet Data
Enterprise Mode Data (Microsoft Edge Legacy and Internet Explorer)
Windows Store Apps Data

Note: Any additional WebData Management settings enabled by group policy will override the Default Configuration settings.

Can I override the Default Configuration settings?

Any WebData Management policies that are configured will override the Default Configuration settings

Do I need the Notification Service to run WebData Management?

The Notification Service can be used to start WebData Management. However WebData Management can be instigated via a third party mechanism if required.

What is the difference between retaining a specific number of calendar days and a specific number of browsing days?

WebData Management can be configured to remove all data, retain a specified number of calendar days or retain a specified number of browsing days.

Where can I get the latest version of the AVA file?

From WebData Control version 4.6 the latest version of the AVA file can be automatically downloaded using the Network Service.

Browser Redirector

Why doesn't the BHO work with Enhanced Protection Mode in Internet Explorer?

Avanite’s BHO is not compatible with Internet Explorer’s 'Enhanced Protection Mode' feature, therefore the BHO is disabled. This means that users will not be able to redirect from Internet Explorer to other web browsers using the Brower Redirector feature.

For the best user experience with Brower Redirector, we recommend that you disable 'Enhanced Protection Mode'.

Favorites Synchronization

Why do my Microsoft Edge favorites not synchronize?

To synchronize favourites to Microsoft Edge you need to ensure that the appropriate group policy settings are configured correctly:

Ensure a valid WebData Control License is present.
Ensure that the policy to run Favorites Synchronization through the notification service is enabled.
Ensure that Microsoft Edge has been selected in the "Favorites Browser Selection" policy.
Ensure that the appropriate browsers have been selected in the "Favorites Browser Selection policy"

It is also require that the following group policy below is configured: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/deploy/group-policies/prelaunch-preload-gp.
Without this policy Microsoft Edge will continuously run and Favorites Synchronization will not work as expected.

Why do my Internet Explorer favorites not synchronize?

To synchronize favourites to Internet Explorer you need to ensure that the appropriate group policy settings are configured correctly:

Ensure a valid WebData Control License is present.
Ensure that the policy to run Favorites Synchronization through the notification service is enabled.
Ensure that Internet Explorer has been selected in the "Favorites Browser Selection" policy.
Ensure that the appropriate browsers have been selected in the "Favorites Browser Selection policy"

By default, Internet Explorer keeps the iexplore.exe process alive for 30 seconds after a user closes the browser. This can cause issues when synchronizing favorites and can be fixed by enabling this policy "Force Internet Explorer to close" policy.
